This is a large painting that I started about 10 years ago, but didn't have the skill at the time to complete it well. About a month ago, I decided to pick it back up and get it done before Christmas. The painting is from a photo of my mother's older brother who was a Cook 2nd Class in the Air Force at Pearl Harbor after the attack. My Uncle Paul was a character and I knew him much later only as a chicken farmer from Luling Texas.

I worked late Friday night around 4 hours and made good progress on Paul's apron (far left). Also worked on the background tile grout. The aprons are supposed to be white, but I'm experimenting with a different color for each one. The yellow worked okay, but I'll add some neutrals later as it's fairly overpowering.

Mission

This blog's purpose is to document activities, thoughts and whatever else affects the art I create. It's called modern baroque because that is the period of art that most moves me and informs my work.
